Next Meeting
Monday, April 19th, 6:00pm
Athens Campus Gym
Immediate Needs, Requests, and News.
Weather Make-Up Day:
Students will be required to attend school on April 23, 2010. This day is scheduled as one of our weather make-up days. Since we had to miss school on January 7th due to the icy, snowy weather, we will be required to attend school on April 23rd to make it up.
Mrs. Kristy Jurhs will be heading up the golf tournament this year. If you can help her in any way, call 256-759-0689 or send a note through your child's teacher. There are many needs and many positions to fill. Some of the needs do not require your attendance at the tournament. Even if you know nothing about golf, you can still be very useful. Contact her today and help make a difference!
Early Release or Emergency Relocation:
For emergency relocation, students at the Athens Campus will be transported to our FCA Madison/East Limestone Campus located at 13902 Bradford Road, Madison, AL 35756. (This address is in Limestone County.) Directions: From US Highway 72 East, turn South onto Bradford Road, which is the road in front of Butler Home Furnishings. The school is about a mile down on the left. It is VERY IMPORTANT to remember that your child(ren) will not be released to anyone who is not listed on the pick-up sheet filed in the office. Since you will not be able to call the school during a crisis, be sure you have all of your authorized pick-up persons on file now to avoid problems later. For more information on this subject, please visit our SchoolNotes webpage by clicking the link found at the top of this page.

Meeting Minutes, March 8, 2010.
Meeting opened at 6:10pm.
Box Tops:
The Box Tops Competition that just concluded was a huge success. We submitted $219.50 in Box Tops and 1,233 Campbell's Soup labels. We will receive a check for our Box Tops submission amount and points earned with the Campbell's Soup labels accrue and items are available for purchase through their catalog.
We have had one submission of Capri Sun pouches and empty chip bags. Empty pouches and bags earn us $.02 each.
CONGRATULATIONS to the second grade for winning the competition! Their hard work was rewarded with an Ice Cream Sundae Party.
Golf Tournament:
Kristy Jurhs gave an update on the golf tournament.
There will be a competition among the students geared toward helping us get items gifted from businesses and signing up players. More information on the competition will be sent home in the Friday Folders this week.
Nominations for Next Year's PTF Officers:
Susan Stone is creating the ballot that will be used to nominate officers for next year's PTF. They will be sent home in the Friday Folders.
At the next meeting, each nominated person will give a short speech and the voting will follow immediately.
Account Balance:
The FCA PTF bank account balance is $376.00. This amount does not include money earned through the latest Box Tops competition or the amount expected from the Capri Sun and chip bag mailing.
Money was used to purchase a projector and transparencies for the school and to fund the Ice Cream Sundae party for the second grade class.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3 - 6, 2010. We will be asking for each family to donate $2.00 to help fund the various gifts and/or treats that will be given to the teachers. More information will be sent home in the Friday Folders as the day approaches.
FCA Bizarre Bazaar:
We will be sponsoring a spring bazaar on April 24, 2010, from 8:00AM to 1:00PM in the gymnasium of the Athens Campus. Vendors and families will set up at 7:00AM.
This event will be like a garage/craft sale where families can sell items and vendors can sell the good and services they provide.
We will rent spaces for $15.00 each and optional tables for $5.00 each. For an additional $5.00, we will clean up the rented spaces and any remaining items will be donated to charity. Otherwise, each renter is responsible for the cleanup and removal of any items that did not sell.
All profits made by the renters are theirs to keep.
Advertisements will run in local newspapers. More information will be sent home in the Friday Folders.
We are hopeful that FCA families will make their spring cleaning rewarding for both them and the school by choosing to sell their items at this sale.
Meeting adjourned 7:30PM.
