Room Parents:

Room Parents are still needed for Mrs. Newman (1st grade), Mrs. Meek (7th grade), Mrs. Jones (12th grade), and Mrs. Hart (Librarian). If you are interested, please contact the school office or one of the PTF officers or members to get signed up.

School Directory:

We are still taking orders and collecting information for the School Directory. This directory will contain contact information for the families that attend FCA.  There is no charge to have your information included.  If you choose to purchase one, the price is $10.00 per directory.  If you'd like to include an advertisement for your business, the charge is an additional $10.00.  Order forms were sent home in the Friday Folders and were included in the PTF folder passed out at orientation. Otherwise, contact the school office or one of the PTF officers to get your information included before time runs out.

Harvest Festival:

There will be a "brain-storming" meeting to plan the Harvest Festival on August 31, 2010, at 3:15pm, in the Athens Campus Library.

FREE CHILDCARE will be provided during the meeting time for those parents/grandparents who would like to attend.

There is much work to be done and plenty of suggestions are needed to make this year's event the BEST EVER!!

Some of the ideas being discussed are pony rides or buggy rides, boxing for the older kids, cotton candy, funnel cakes, allowing vendors to come in and set up booths (Pampered Chef, Southern Living, Arbonne, Mary Kay, etc.), and many more.  If you have an idea, now is the time to let us know.

Email Contact:

We are in the process of gathering email addresses for those who would like to be included on messages sent out concerning PTF activities and events at the school.  If you'd like to be included in these communications, please send us your email address.  This list is separate from the email addresses on file in the office for your child(ren).  Your email address will remain confidential and will not be shared with others.  You may send an email to one of the PTF officers listed at the top of this page or send it to the school in your child's Friday Folder.  If sending in through your child, be sure to label it to be directed to the PTF.

Early Release or Emergency Relocation:

For emergency relocation, students at the Athens Campus will be transported to our FCA Madison/East Limestone Campus located at 13902 Bradford Road, Madison, AL 35756. (This address is in Limestone County.) Directions: From US Highway 72 East, turn South onto Bradford Road, which is the road in front of Butler Home Furnishings. The school is about a mile down on the left. It is VERY IMPORTANT to remember that your child(ren) will not be released to anyone who is not listed on the pick-up sheet filed in the office. Since you will not be able to call the school during a crisis, be sure you have all of your authorized pick-up persons on file now to avoid problems later. For more information on this subject, please visit our SchoolNotes webpage by clicking the link found at the top of this page.

Meeting Minutes

Parent/Teacher Fellowship meeting August 16, 2010 @ 3:15 pm

President Gwen Kyle called meeting to order and Vice-President Tressy Hart led the word of prayer. Meeting began with each person introducing themselves. First item on the agenda was the goal for the year. Suggestions were made to buy another projector for the teachers, a trophy case for the gym, or cord/converter boxes for those teachers having a TV already in their room to enable them to use the school laptops for presentations.

Next was a brief discussion about the “Boxtops for Education” program and the competition for October. There will be an ice cream sundae party for the two classes that have the highest average of turn-ins, one for K4 - 6th and one for 7th – 12th. The next item on the agenda was trying to start a can recycling program once a month. Becky Constanble will find out the requirements, if any, and then we will devise a method to advertise and collect the aluminum during either morning or afternoon car line.

Nancy Green will have the room parents assigned within the next two weeks. Also, it was decided to start each year's directory from scratch so that each year the parents can decide whether or not to participate and/or purchase the directory.

The PTF will be in charge of the Harvest Festival this year. A committee of four will be leading the fundraiser with one person in charge of each section; homeroom baskets, games, food and other concessions, and chicken stew. Jennifer Stoner and Becky Constable will begin work now on the baskets and other donations for the school.

Meeting adjourned at 4:10 and free childcare was provided for the children of the parents/teachers who attended the meeting.
